Indian cricketers can’t keep calm after 41 years of men’s hockey team winning medals

Team India has created a stir in the whole country after 41 years by winning the historic bronze medal in the men’s hockey competition. The team led by Graham Reid defeated Germany 5-4 to win the much-awaited medal. But after winning the team, former and present Indian cricketers could not control their emotions and wished the winning team all the best.

The great Sachin Tendulkar heaped praise on the entire team and PR Sreejesh for saving a penalty corner in the final moments of the match.

Flamboyant batsman Virender Sehwag cherished the moment and sent wishes to the Indian team, “Chak de phatte! Badah. A historic day for @TheHockeyIndia. After being down 3-1, India fight back to win the bronze medal match 5-3, the first Olympic medal in hockey after 40 years. It was fun.”

VVS Laxman also did not lag behind. He wrote, “Wow! Wow! Delighted to see the Indian hockey team come back in spectacular fashion from 3-1 down, winning the bronze medal match against Germany, winning India’s first medal in hockey since 1980.# IndvsGer Many congratulations

@TheHockeyIndia.”

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer wrote, “16 who made history: Manpreet, Sreejesh, Harmanpreet, Rupinder, Surendra, Amit, Birender, Hardik, Vivek, Neelkanth, Sumit, Shamsher, Dilpreet, Gurjant, Lalit, Mandeep. Remember them, nurture them, tell your kids about them. Let them inspire a generation.”

But the journey is not over yet. The Indian women’s hockey team will take on Great Britain in a bronze medal match, and coach Sjoerd Marin’s team will be hoping for just that.
