Hockey World Cup 2023: India are set to take on World Cup debutants Wales in their Pool D match at the ongoing FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup on Thursday (January 18). Team coach Graham Reid gave an update on the recently injured midfielder Hardik Singh. The all-important clash will take place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. India are currently second in the table with four points, one behind England who are ahead on goal difference. Hardik Singh’s MRI scan is looking better than expected and his participation was informed by the coach on match day itself.
During the pre-match press conference, the coach said, “We will decide on Hardik tomorrow. His MRI is better than we expected.”
Hardik suffered the injury in the Pool D match against England which ended in a 0-0 draw in the ongoing FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023. “Take a call on the injury and his availability for the India vs Wales match. At present no replacement request has been put forward to FIH,” Hockey India said in an official statement.
