India vs South Africa 2021-22, 1st Test, Day 5 Weather Forecast: Is it going to rain?

When the fifth day of the first Test at Centurion gets underway, the Indian team will not only have South African batsmen hoping to halt their march towards victory. Rain is expected at some point on Thursday and the outcome of the first match of the series between the two teams, being played at SuperSport Park, could be a final decision.

There is a chance of showers in the afternoon, which means that the first season may proceed uninterrupted by the weather elements. According to Weather.com, there is a 10 percent chance of rain in the morning which increases to 65 percent in the afternoon and 33 percent by evening.

If the forecast is correct, the Indian team will have to end the proceedings as soon as possible, which means taking the remaining six wickets in the first session to eliminate the possibility of rain.

From South Africa’s point of view, this is good news and the draw is likely to improve in a big way, however, if the rain keeps away, there is also a possibility that the hosts could go for the target.

Overall, all four outcomes are possible but the probability of a draw (thanks to the rain forecast) or an Indian win are the two most likely outcomes.

When the fourth day’s play ended, thanks to two late blows from Jasprit Bumrah, the contest was reduced to 94/4 in India’s favor with South Africa chasing 305.

Batting first after winning the toss, India were bowled out for 327 with the help of KL Rahul’s century. In reply, South Africa took a massive 130-run lead as they were bowled out for 197. The visitors were then all out for 174 in their second dig, giving the hosts a 305-run lead to win.
