Dwayne Johnson turns down Vin Diesel’s invitation to rejoin ‘Fast and Furious’

Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson has publicly declined “Fast and Furious” series actor Vin Diesel’s request to rejoin the action franchise for the upcoming 10th mainline entry.

In November, Diesel took to Instagram to invite Johnson to reprise his role as secret agent Lucas Hobbs for the next entry in the series, reports Variety.com.

“The world awaits the conclusion of ‘Fast 10’,” wrote Diesel.

He continued: “As you know, my kids refer to you in my house as Uncle Dwayne. There’s no holiday they don’t send you and wishes but the time has come. The legacy awaits.” . I told you years ago when I was going to keep my promise to Pablo. I swore we would get to the finals and fast the best that is 10!”

In a new interview with CNN, Johnson responded to the request, criticizing Diesel for offering an invite on social media, as the two had already reached an agreement privately.

“I said straight (Diesel) that I would not return to the franchise. I was firm and cordial with my words and said that I would always support the cast and always root for the franchise to succeed, but there was No chance I’ll be back,” Johnson explained.

“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought his kids into the post, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out of it. We talked about this months ago And came a clear understanding.”

However, Johnson expressed his best wishes for the “Fast and Furious” family ahead of their next, and apparently final, visit.

“My goal was to end my wonderful journey with this incredible franchise with gratitude and grace,” Johnson said.

He continued: “It’s unfortunate that this public discourse has muddied the waters. Regardless, I have faith in the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to deliver consistently to audiences. I really like my former co-stars and the driver.” I wish the team members luck and success in the next chapter.”

Johnson joined the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise with 2011’s ‘Fast Five’.

At first, his agent Hobbs is the antagonist of Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, although Johnson’s character later joins his family of anti-physics heroes.

Johnson pulled out of the mainline series following his appearance in 2017’s “The Fate of the Furious,” a spin-off of 2019’s “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw,” teaming up with Jason Statham.
