New Delhi: A remarkable all-round effort from Team India on the fourth day of the India vs England Oval Test helped them take a leading edge till the final session. In their second innings, India were bowled out for 466, setting a target of 368 for England to win. Shardul Thakur and Rishabh Pant put on a solid 100-run partnership for the seventh wicket to take the match away from the hosts. The last four Indian wickets piled on the plight of the England bowlers and disappointed them by adding 154 runs.
The top scorer for India was opener Rohit Sharma with 127 runs, while Cheteshwar Pujara (61), Shardul Thakur (60) and Rishabh Pant (50) scored fifties. Chris Woakes scored a brilliant spell and was one of the bowlers for England to claim 3-83.
Just ahead of England’s chase in the final session of the day’s play comes a sad news for the Indian fans. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Twitter that Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara are not fit to take the field.
