India U-17 women’s team lost to Chile 1-3 – Henry Club

The Indian U-17 women’s team suffered a 1-3 loss against Chile in their second match of the four-nation tournament here despite a better show. The women’s team entered this match after losing 0–7 to Italy in the opening match.

Despite a slow start by both the teams in the initial stages, India got an early lead through defender Naketa, whose long-ranger free-kick failed to upset Chile. In the 11th minute, Chile was shot by Katrin Ramos in the 11th minute, which took India’s senses.

While the Indians tried to make an early comeback and were looking for an equalizer, Chile doubled their lead in the 19th minute via a clinical header from Mete. With a 2-0 finish in the first half in Chile’s favour, India came out after the break and looked desperate to restore parity. With a tough task in hand, the Indians cut the deficit and made it 1-2 when a ball from Neha landed at their feet. KajolAnd the latter skillfully carried the ball behind the goal in a flash.

However, despite a much-needed goal, the Indian side’s aspirations were soon dashed when, in the 67th minute, Chile’s Amber Rollino put the final nail in the coffin to make it 3-1. The Indians maintained their attack for the rest of the game but it was Chile who walked off the field as the winners.
