India among top 25 defense exporting countries: Union Minister Rajnath Singh

New Delhi: According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute 2020 report, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that India is among the top 25 defense products exporting countries.

Singh told ANI, “I am happy to inform you that as per the report of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute 2020, India is for the first time in the list of top 25 defense products exporting countries.”

He said this while attending a program of Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs).

Defense export means increase in our capability, capability, standard. To boost exports of defense goods and make India a part of the global defense supply chain, we have set a target of exports of Rs 35,000 crore in aerospace and defense good services by 2024-25.

He is on a two-day visit to Bengaluru where he will visit DPSU facilities to review progress and attend meetings.

Established in 1966, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute or SIPRI provides data, analysis and recommendations for armed conflict, military expenditure and the arms trade, as well as disarmament and arms control. The research is based on open sources and directed to decision makers, researchers, the media and the interested public.
