He used to go out for sports throughout the day. Especially in wrestling. He was also the captain of his school’s wrestling team. Wanted to make a future in wrestling.
The poor conditions of the house did not allow an expensive sport like wrestling. Due to less money, he had to leave his wrestling dream here.
He got a chance to join the Sangh from DAV College
Just like 10th passed. The elder brother got admission in the Dayanand Vedic College, Orai in the year 1985. This was the place from where he got the taste of the Sangh.
One day a friend of Congress asked him to attend the program of the Sangh. He was fond of playing, so he was told that there will be games in the program too.
He arrived immediately. There it was learned that the speech of the office bearers of the union is going to be held, not the game. He liked the words of that speech so much that he left everything and started going to the programs of the Sangh.
Gradually he became active in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the student organization of the Sangh.
The story of Swatantra Dev’s 36 years of politics

Year 1986, student union election ticket was not received: Swatantra sought ticket from ABVP for the election of student organization but he did not get the ticket.
Year 1989, two big changes in life during journalism: In the midst of student politics, he joined the newspaper ‘Independent India’. Worked as a reporter in Orai. From here two big changes took place in his life. First, it was from here that he entered politics. Second, his childhood name was changed to the name of the newspaper.
Year 1990, Story of Swatantra Dev Singh’s entry in politics: There was only one slogan reverberating across the country, “Ram Lalla hum aanege, temple will be built there.”
In the same connection, one day Bajrang Dal’s national president Vinay Katiyar was going to Orai. Even before his arrival, riots started in Orai. The situation was tense.
The apprehensions of riots and flare-ups intensified upon Vinay’s arrival. The district administration refused him to talk to the journalists.
When Swatantra Dev Singh came to know about this, he took a break. The break is that the ban is on speaking inside the city. Why not hold a conference outside the city limits.
He immediately called up the journalists. All the journalists stopped outside the border of Orai and took Vinay’s statement. Vinay’s explosive statements dominated the headlines of the newspapers for the next several days. Vinay liked this thing of independent very much. He advised Swatantra Dev Singh to join politics.
This is the story of Congress Singh becoming Swatantra Dev Singh, RSS had changed the name
Year 1992, left journalism and started politics: Congress Singh left journalism. Vinay put him in charge of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. Swatantra Dev’s earlier name was Congress Singh.
The name Congress Singh started beating the RSS: Name Congress Singh and politics of BJP. RSS started finding this name strange. A new name was being thought of for him. Since he was working in Swatantra Bharat newspaper, he was now known as Swatantra Dev Singh and not Congress Singh.
Swatantra Dev Singh appointed as Chairman of Jalaun Cooperative Bank
Year 1999, became the chairman of the bank: At the behest of the Sangh, Congress Singh is made the chairman of Jalaun Cooperative Bank.
Year 2001, took over the youth front: Was made the state president of BJP Yuva Morcha.
BJP has given big responsibility on the shoulders of Swatantra Dev
Year 2002, Place: Agra, was the national convention of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. The responsibility of this entire event was on Swatantra Dev. Big leaders of organizations like Lal Krishna Advani, Atal Bihari Vajpayee came.
Seeing the crowd of lakhs in the program, all the leaders were stunned. After this the responsibility of all further events fell on the shoulders of Swatantra Dev Singh. The success story of Swatantra started on the strength of these events. Organization Minister Nagendra named Swatantra for the vacant seat of the Legislative Council.
Year 2004, Parliamentary politics began: The BJP sent him to the Legislative Council. Elected twice.
Year 2012, when Swatantra’s bail was forfeited: UP assembly elections were about to come. On behalf of the organization, all the big leaders were ordered to fight from their respective assemblies. The name of the independent god was also included in this.
Contested from the Kalpi assembly constituency of Orai. Lost. His deposit was forfeited with only 15,000 votes.
People started feeling that after such a bad defeat, the political career of Swatantra Dev Singh would end.
But this did not happen. Neither did his career make any difference nor did he lose his importance in the party.
Year 2013, the beginning of the mission of victory in the Lok Sabha elections: There were Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014. Keeping the same in mind, a great responsibility was entrusted to Swatantra. The challenge was to bring more and more people to all the BJP rallies.
He rapidly started promoting BJP everywhere. Lakhs of people started gathering in every rally.
Swatantra has done his duty well. BJP won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
In the year 2017, the name of the independent for the Chief Minister was also discussed: BJP got 312 seats in the UP assembly elections. After the victory, the name of Swatantra Dev Singh also started being discussed with Manoj Sinha, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Yogi Adityanath.
After all, the name of Yogi Adityanath was stamped.
Swatantra was given the responsibility of Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Department of Transport, Protocol and Energy.
In the year 2019, Swatantra’s stature increased in the party: Swatantra Dev was made the state president of UP BJP.
Year 2022, took oath as a minister in the cabinet:
On March 25, Swatantra took oath as a minister in the Yogi cabinet.
The UP assembly elections were fought under the leadership of Swatantra Dev. BJP won 255 seats.
