Shreyas Iyer will be kicking himself to miss a century on day one in Bengaluru. The pitch was changing and the Mumbaikar just hung up and played a counter-attack, eventually getting dismissed for 92 runs off 98 balls. Later he got another chance in the second essay where he again showed his pride. However, this time also he was dismissed for 67 when he was to complete a century. However, he must have been comforted by the fact that India won the match and series quite comprehensively.

“It was not my normal approach, but I saw batsmen struggling, so I knew I had to attack and put pressure on the bowlers. I was batting on 55 when the bowlers came and then I added about 40 more runs. I could have got out earlier too, so don’t worry about hundred. I just wanted to bat as many deliveries (in the second innings) as I knew I had some support with Shami and Bumrah. I have always dreamed of playing Test cricket for India, good spirit to come and contribute, want to continue that.
