Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane may have only one more innings to save their Test careers under pressure, has predicted the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

Pujara and Rahane were dismissed for successive deliveries by South African pacer Duane Olivier on the first day of the second Test in Johannesburg on Monday.

Gavaskar said during commentary, “With both of them out, one can say that they will probably have the next innings, both Pujara and Rahane to save their Test careers.”

Gavaskar said questions are being raised about his place in the playing XI after repeated failures.

“Questions have been asked about his place in the team and now with these two dismissals, he has just one innings left. If there is another innings and the way India is progressing, it looks like there will be one more innings for them to score some points and probably retain their place in the team.”

Olivier celebrated his return to international cricket after Pujara was dismissed. And then doubled it with the wicket of Rahane. Pujara scored three runs off 33 balls while Rahane was dismissed for zero.
