8,082 fresh Covid-19 cases reported in Mumbai, 2 succumbed to the infection

Mumbai recorded 8,082 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, amid a steady rise in the number of infections in the city. Apart from this, 2 people died of infection in the last 24 hours. 622 people have recovered from the infection today.

In view of the rise in COVID cases in Mumbai, Maharashtra Health Minister Bharti Pawar will hold a meeting with health officials in Mumbai tomorrow. The meeting will start at 12 noon.

Data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shows that the city had recorded 809 cases on December 27, which meant the tally rose almost 10 times as compared to Sunday. Today, BMC also closed classes for classes 1 to 9 and 11 till January 31 in the light of rising COVID cases in the city.

India’s Omron tally has crossed the 1700 mark. Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of 510 cases, followed by Delhi (351), Kerala (156), Gujarat (136), Tamil Nadu (121) and Rajasthan (120).
