Islamabad:

Pakistan President Arif Alvi has said that Imran Khan will continue as Prime Minister till a caretaker PM is appointed under Article 224A of the Constitution of Pakistan.

President Alvi said in a tweet, “Mr Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi, will continue as Prime Minister until the appointment of Acting Prime Minister under Article 224A(4) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.”

This comes after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was notified as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. According to the report of Geo News, a statement in this regard was issued by the country’s cabinet division after the dissolution of the National Assembly.

The de-notification comes after National Assembly (NA) deputy speaker Qasim Suri rejected the no-confidence motion against the PTI president and termed it as “unconstitutional”.

Pakistan’s opposition parties are contemplating their steps forward after the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was rejected and the National Assembly was dissolved.

Business Recorder reported that the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Shahbaz Sharif, said that after the fall of the government of Imran Khan and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, the trial would be held under Article 6 of the Constitution.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the opposition would “start a legal battle” against the “unconstitutional rule by the NA deputy speaker”.

After the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was rejected on Sunday, the Pakistan Army had said that he was not involved in politics.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Omar Ata Bandiyal said that all orders and actions initiated by Imran Khan and the President regarding the dissolution of the National Assembly will be subject to the orders of the court.

Chief Justice Bandiyal made the remarks after taking note of the prevailing situation in the country after NA Deputy Speaker Suri rejected the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan.
