ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said on Friday that former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan conceded defeat and returned to the Bani Gala as he could not collect even 35,000 despite claiming to have gathered two million people. ,

Speaking during a press conference in Islamabad, Aurangzeb said that Khan and his party were not prepared for the so-called “Azadi March”.

“They only made preparations to collect weapons and sticks,” he said, as they were preparing khoni (violent) March.

The information minister said that the PTI supporters were astrayed by Khan’s false statement.

“By the time he reached Islamabad, he had only 15 to 20 cars with his caravan,” she said. “Khan should tell us what was stopping him from continuing his march. The Supreme Court allowed you to proceed for the march and there were no hurdles. You kept inviting everyone to join your march but people showed interest. Not Taken.”

He further said that those who advise Khan to hold press conferences are not competent people as they should have asked him to take sleeping pills and go to bed instead of asking him to come on TV.

Aurangzeb reprimanded the former prime minister for being responsible for the martyrdom of a police constable in Lahore and said: “Your politics of negativity shot the policeman in the chest.”

The information minister further said that Khan defied the orders of the Supreme Court and continued to move towards D-Chowk in the federal capital.

“While he himself did not reach D-Chowk, he instigated his supporters to violate the order of the apex court.”

Regarding PTI supporters, Aurangzeb said that the government respects their sentiments.

‘I will be responsible for the hike in petrol prices’

Moving forward, Aurangzeb blamed Khan for the sudden rise in the prices of petroleum products in the country and said: “When he came to know about the no-confidence motion against him, Khan subsidized the prices of petroleum products.”

He said Khan had signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and it was he who continued to subsidize the prices of petroleum products, partly due to the tough decision taken by the PML-N government. Removal of subsidy.
