Amit Mishra celebrates after removing Riyan Parag

After dismissing Riyan Parag, Amit Mishra bust into celebration with his arms up in the air and then showed off his name on the jersey by pointing at his back.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Amit Mishra on Saturday sent the cricket fans into a frenzy with his magical appearance against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Ekana Stadium. Playing his first game this season, the 41-year-old struck right in his first over to get the prized wicket of Riyan Parag. His first wicket in the ongoing tournament helped him equal the Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s tally of 174 IPL wickets.

It was the 9th over of RR’s chase, of 197, when LSG introduced Mishra into the attack. The veteran leggie started off with a couple of singles before getting whacked for a six by Parag off the third ball. It was dropped short while Parag slammed it wide of long-on for a huge hit.

But one big hit wasn’t enough to overshadow the vast experience Mishra brought to this game. He recollected himself and bounced back on the very next ball to get the better of Parag with a slider. The RR all-rounder wanted to play inside out but ended up playing it straight and holed out to Ayush Badoni at deep cover.

Earlier, KL Rahul dug deep with Deepak Hooda as Lucknow Super Giants managed a competitive 196/5 against Rajasthan Royals. The LSG duo gave a solid footing with a 62-ball 115-run stand for the third wicket after early blows, but the failure of others meant the hosts could not capitalise on the hard work of the two.

A little slow to pick at the start, Rahul and Hooda did well to make up the lost ground. Rahul’s 48-ball 76 with eight fours and two sixes was his fourth fifty of the season while Hooda banished his poor string of scores to make his first big score this IPL.
