Immerse Idols In Artificial Ponds: Admin | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: Keeping in mind idol immersion from the fifth day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the district administration convened a review meeting under the chairmanship of district magistrate Vishak G Iyer on Saturday.
The district administration has decided to create artificial ponds for immersion of idols of Lord Ganesha and for the upcoming Durga Puja to check pollution in Ganga during immersion. The district administration had dug up as many as a dozen artificial ponds on the bank of Ganga for immersion of idols of god and goddess in these ponds.
ADM Tej Swaroop Singh and SP (Outer) inspected the Dyodhi Ghat artificial pond on Saturday.
During the inspection, the district magistrate directed the officials to launch a special cleanliness drive near and in the adjacent areas of the artificial ponds and depute sanitary workers to clean the pond from time to time.
Roads leading to artificial ponds must be repaired and should be pothole free and proper lighting arrangements should be made there, the DM asked the officials concerned.
