The India Meteorological Department said on Saturday that there is a possibility of cold wave to severe cold wave over northwestern states including Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan and parts of western Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh till December 21.

An IMD spokesperson said cold wave conditions to severe cold wave conditions are prevailing over parts of northwest India for the last three days. “The night temperature in these areas remained below normal till Saturday,” he said.

Stating that severe cold wave conditions may occur over parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the spokesperson said, “After December 21, the minimum temperature is expected to rise slightly and hence the cold wave conditions are likely to increase.” could end the wave situation”
