Chennai, April 18

Praising Ustad Ilaiyaraaja for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and comparing him to Dr BR Ambedkar is seeing both opposition and support in social media, while BJP national president JP Nadda has drawn strong criticism.

The renowned Tamil musician has compared and praised pro-women initiatives like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ in the foreword to Bluecraft Digital Foundation’s book ‘Ambedkar and Modi, Reformers Ideas, Performers Implementation’.

The criticism in social media since Saturday against Ilayaraja can be summed up as ideological, who claims that Modi cannot be compared to Ambedkar as the former is committed to Hindutva, while the latter is a reformist leader who Dedicated his whole life for the upliftment of the society. oppressed people.

Supporters defended Modi’s praise, saying the maestro merely pointed to the fact that both the prime minister and Ambedkar succeeded against all odds despite belonging to socially challenged sections of the society.

Furthermore, he says that Ilaiyara praised Modi for schemes aimed at women’s welfare, including a law against triple talaq, which would have made Ambedkar proud.

A war of words broke out in the political arena and the BJP extended full support to the famous musician. Supporters of Left parties and supporters of Tamil and Dalit organizations are among those who have protested comparing Modi with Ambedkar on social media.

The ruling DMK said no one in the party expressed any opinion on the maestro’s remarks on Modi. Party MP and Organizing Secretary RS Bharti said in a statement that the DMK also does not want to give any opinion on the matter.

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai posted a letter from his party chief Nadda to the people on his Twitter handle.

In the letter, Nadda, with reference to Tamil Nadu and without naming Ilayaraja, says: “In Tamil Nadu, elements associated with the ruling party in the state are verbally humiliating, humiliating and humiliating one of India’s greatest musical masters . I have left no stone unturned. Simply because their views are not compatible with a political party and their allies. Is it democratic? There may be differing views and still coexist happily but why take offense? ,

On BJP leader and Union Minister L Murugan’s remarks that Ilaiyaraaja has the freedom to praise Modi, the DMK said the minister should understand that others with different viewpoints have an equal right to criticize. The DMK warned Murugan not to drag the DMK into the issue.

Meanwhile, Ilayaraja’s son Yuvan Raja (Yuvan Shankar Raja) said in an Instagram post that he is a ‘Dark Dravidian, Proud Tamizan’, which some see as a remark against the right wing.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said in a tweet, “Music celebrity iconic legend Thiru. @ilaiyaraaja Proud of Tamil Nadu and India. From the bottom of my heart welcome his expression #Modifullfillsambedkardreams. As it reflects millions of brilliant fair minds. ,

The Bluecraft Foundation states on its website, “The book is a prism that depicts the contribution of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in the process of nation building. Many of his ideas and interventions continue to define our governance paradigm, especially as Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensures that his legacy is revived. ,

“The book studies the intersection points of India’s growth story under the ideals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Babasaheb. It also highlights the striking resemblance between the two towering personalities, who succeeded against all odds and worked to destroy the social structures they themselves had experienced from close quarters.
