IKEA opens its biggest store in India in Bangalore, plans to invest Rs 3000 crore

New Delhi: Renowned Swedish home furniture company IKEA on June 22 opened its first big box store format in Nagasandra, Bengaluru. The firm said that in Karnataka with a planned investment of Rs 3,000 crore. According to a press release, the Nagasandra store is IKEA’s fourth location in India. It will be a well-known landmark in the community and will offer home furnishing options to suit a wide variety of family needs. Spanning 12.2 acres, the 4,60,000-square-foot IKEA Nagasandra store features over 7,000 well-designed suites of 65+ rooms along with beautifully designed 65+ rooms for ideas and inspiration to live a better life at home Home furnishing products.

The store will also feature one of the largest children’s play areas, ‘Smaland’, as well as a 1,000-seat restaurant and a bistro serving a mix of Swedish and Indian cuisine, with several vegetarian and vegan dining options to choose from . IKEA employs 1,000 coworkers with 72 percent local coworking and plans to hire more people from local neighborhoods. IKEA truly believes it will create the best work environment for many of its coworkers, providing equal pay and growth opportunities for all.

The company said the store also believes in empowering women and has seen women perform job roles traditionally reserved for men, such as forklift driving, power stacking, assembly and installation services.
