IIT Placements 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Placement 2020-21 has been completed across the country. This year, these institutes have seen a huge drop in international job opportunities. Fewer than 200 students across the country have secured jobs abroad.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many regions across the world have been affected. As a result, IIT placements 2020-21 has seen fewer international offers. Not only this, the compensation package has also come down significantly this year. The decrease in international placements compared to the last two years is due to the pandemic and untenable travel restrictions.

According to media reports, IIT Bombay managed to secure 58 international placements as compared to 159 last year. IIT Gandhinagar has been on zero international placements since the pandemic began in 2020. IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee have also seen a significant drop in international job offers as compared to last year. The highest annual package in IIT Roorkee placements has come down from Rs 1.53 crore per annum to Rs 69.05 lakh per annum. The International Annual Compensation in IIT Bombay Placements has also reduced as compared to the year 2019 and 2020.

According to a report published in Times of India, the placement officer of IIT Bombay has told that the placement was challenging at the time of pandemic. It was not easy to do the entire process online with the students. The COVID-19 blues has made placements one of the most challenging tasks. However, IIT Placements 2020-21 has been successfully completed with average results.

“Covid blues has made placement one of the most challenging tasks. Though cracking the number of placements has never been a concern for IIT Roorkee, maintaining the quality, meeting the high expectations of the students, and hitting the high package bar set over the years, was the most ambitious and demanding job ,” IIT Roorkee spokesperson TOI was quoted as saying in its report.

Institutions are hopeful that business will resume soon and the placement graph will be back to normal by the beginning of the next session. To get more details about IIT Placements 2020-21, students can visit the official website of their respective institute.
