If you use Microsoft Edge browser, you may be at ‘high’ risk – Times of India

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team ,CERT-InHigh Severity Alert has been issued under the Ministry of IT microsoft edge browser the user. The warning is for users who are using a version of the browser earlier than 97.0.1072.55. According to the warning, several vulnerabilities have been reported in the Edge browser that could allow a remote attacker to gain privileges and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The advisory further revealed that “these vulnerabilities exist in Edge due to inadequate sanitization of user-supplied data and unreasonable security restrictions. A remote attacker persuades the victim to visit a specially crafted website.” And in the context of an arbitrary website, the user can exploit these vulnerabilities by executing arbitrary HTML and script code in the browser.
Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to gain privileges and execute arbitrary code on the target system. In order to avoid any exploitation, CERT-in wants users of Edge browser to be updated to version 97.0.1072.55. The version was rolled out by the tech giant last week and includes the latest security updates from the Chromium project.
If you’re an Edge user, you might also find a new ‘Games’ panel on the browser. according to a report of neowinWell known tipster Leopeva64 has spotted the new panel. The report further mentions that this feature is currently available for only a few users and is disabled by default. The feature has to be turned on by going to Settings > Appearance > Games button.
According to the report, after enabling the feature, users will see a Games button on the omnibar. Clicking on the new button will open a panel on the right side of the browser window. The panel includes various categories of HTML5 games such as arcade, board & card, puzzle, sports, casual, and more.
