High cholesterol: Sharp pain in these parts of the body can be a warning sign. The Times of India

Cholesterol is a type of lipid that falls under the category of sterols. Fats, waxes, oils and hormones all fall under the category of lipids and so does the dreaded term ‘cholesterol’, which is synthesized by the cells of our body and is an integral part of cell membranes. When isolated, it is a yellow crystalline substance whose excessive presence in the blood is called high cholesterol and is considered extremely dangerous to the body due to its consequences. Cholesterol thickens the blood and can hinder its smooth circulation especially through the arteries as it gets deposited on the walls of the arteries, causing them to clog.
