Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has expressed his desire to do something special for Shane Warne, who passed away earlier this year. Warne leads the Rajasthan team IPL title in the inaugural season and now Samson wants the Class of 2022 to win the trophy for the franchise’s first captain.
The renowned Australian cricketer has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 52 at a luxury resort in Thailand. Warne was one of the greatest cricketers of all time, who not only accepted and adopted IPL as an idea and a tournament, but was also its biggest advocate.

Rajasthan Royals defeated Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday to reach the final of IPL 2022 where they will face Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
After an emphatic win over RCB in Qualifier 2, RR skipper Samson had a chat with Orange Cap holder Jos Buttler, which was shared on the IPL website.
Butler first spoke to Samson and asked: “How are you feeling, apparently incredibly sad this year. Shane Warne, one of the first royals, isn’t going to be here, but his legacy lives on in the royals, right?”
To this Samson replied: “Absolutely, I think the tournament has been there for him from the beginning. I think we need to take another step for that, I think it’s really special. I don’t want to talk much about it, but we are just one step closer. I want to do something special for him.”
Buttler has played a big part in RR’s successful 2022 campaign so far as he has scored four centuries this season and one of them came against RCB in Qualifier 2.
The RR skipper asked Butler about his animated celebration after hitting a century on Friday.
“I was really excited today to play in this stadium with 100,000 people in the stadium. The atmosphere was amazing, I think after two years of playing in empty stadiums, that’s the IPL, I felt a lot of excitement, I controlled it. Couldn’t,” Butler said.
