Former India batsman Robin Uthappa is clarifying his tweet after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reached 10th position.th The cricketer-turned-commentator lauded CSK’s efforts to beat Gujarat Titans and make it to the finals of the IPL on Tuesday. However, his tweet praising MS Dhoni & Co. has angered the supporters of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Uthappa represented six teams in the cash-rich tournament. Despite spending most of his IPL years with KKR, the former India batsman heaped praise on CSK, the team he last played for.

Following criticism from fans, Uthappa on Wednesday made a few posts and spoke about how good his time in the KKR camp was when Gautam Gambhir was the captain. The former said that the situation was not the same after Gambhir left KKR.

“A lot has been said since last night and I thank you for sharing it. However I have always said that my first 4 years at KKR were completely different from my last 2 years under Gauti. And it had a huge impact on my performance. I can assure you it has nothing to do with captaincy.

Uthappa revealed that he felt isolated in the post-Gautam Gambhir era but he continues to be respected and loved by KKR fans.

“After Gauti left, everything changed and I felt isolated. However, my love for KKR fans was there before and will always be there. I am forever grateful for their support and I want to make that clear!! It is not about KKR fans. I will always love and respect him.

Uthappa played for Chennai Super Kings, Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors India, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in his illustrious IPL career. He played 205 matches in the IPL during his career and won the Orange Cap in 2014 by scoring 660 runs. He has 4,952 runs in his account, which includes 27 half-centuries.
