The accused was upset over the victim Naveen sending messages to his girlfriend. Police said that the accused was under the impression that Naveen was once again molesting her.
A 22-year-old youth allegedly killed his friend for texting and calling his girlfriend, who was earlier in a relationship with the victim. The accused later beheaded the deceased and chopped off his genitals and fingers before surrendering himself to the police on Friday.
Police started a detailed investigation by registering a case on the statement of the accused and took the dead body of the victim and sent it for postmortem to the local government hospital.
According to the police, the victim Naveen and the accused Harihar Krishna studied together in a college in Dilsukhnagar. Naveen was in a relationship with the girl before they parted ways after two years. Later the girl is approached by Harihara Krishna and is in a relationship with him since then.
Police said the accused was upset over Naveen sending messages to his girlfriend. Police said that Krishna felt that Naveen was once again getting attracted towards her. The police also said that Krishna had been planning to kill Naveen for the last three months.
On February 17, Krishna met Naveen at Abdullapur on the outskirts of Hyderabad on the pretext of partying together. Soon, the two have a fierce fight in an inebriated state, when Krishna confronts Naveen for keeping in touch with his girlfriend. In a fit of rage, he strangled Naveen to death and threw his body in an open field.
The accused cut the private part of the victim, sent the pictures to the girlfriend
Police said that after this the accused cut the victim’s body into pieces and took out her private parts and heart. He also chopped off the fingers of the victim and sent the pictures to his girlfriend on WhatsApp. Police said the girl thought Krishna was playing a prank on her and refused to believe him.
On the same day of the murder, when Naveen’s friends could not reach him via phone, they contacted Krishna, who claimed that he had no information about Naveen’s whereabouts. The victim’s family approached the police, following which a missing complaint was lodged.
“Krishna surrendered himself when he realized that the noose was tightening around him. The entire sequence of events narrated by him tallies with other testimonies and technical evidence. But further investigation is still underway,” the police said.
