In a tragic incident on the Langar Houz flyover in Hyderabad, Naik K Koteshwara Reddy, a 29-year-old Army soldier, met with a fatal accident. The incident occurred while Reddy was traveling for work on his two-wheeler to the Military Hospital in Golconda.
Entanglement with Banned Nylon Manja
As Reddy rode under the flyover, a banned nylon manja, commonly used in kite flying and prohibited in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, became entangled with a lamppost. Tragically, the Chinese manja, known for its thin and almost invisible nature, caught around Reddy’s neck, causing him to fall from his scooter.

Desperate Attempt to Save Reddy
Fellow motorist Shankar Goud witnessed the incident and made a desperate attempt to rush Reddy to the hospital. However, due to severe bleeding, Goud carried Reddy on his shoulder and halted a rickshaw to transport him to the Military Hospital. Despite these efforts, Reddy succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Surviving Family and Emotional Appeal
Naik K Koteshwara Reddy leaves behind his wife and a two-year-old daughter. His grieving wife, K Prathyusha, recounted that Reddy had left home at 6 pm on the fateful day. In her emotional appeal, Prathyusha emphasized the need for necessary action against those involved in selling the banned manja. She highlighted the potential danger it poses to both humans and animals.

Legal Action and Ongoing Investigation
Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against unknown individuals, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. The soldier’s mortal remains were handed over to his family after an autopsy, and the final rites were performed in his native Visakhapatnam district.
