Hundreds protest against low salary of daycare teachers

Hundreds of parents and nursery teachers joined a march on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv on Wednesday afternoon to protest teachers’ wages and working conditions.

Earlier in the week, a strike began at subsidized daycares as part of the protest.

“We get never-ending support from parents who understand and embrace the rights of daycare teachers to earn with respect,” said one of the march’s organizers.

“We turn to Finance Minister And Minister of Economy, look into the eyes of daycare teachers and open your heart to us, and end the strike that is hurting parents and daycare teachers.”

The strike began on Sunday and has no time limit. The participants are protesting against the shortage of staff and lower wages compared to teachers in municipal kindergartens. As a result, around 70,000 children up to the age of three in 700 daycares have no routine.
