How to treat hair loss after pregnancy – Times of India

Women may experience hair loss after pregnancy due to fluctuating hormone levels. In pregnant women, progesterone levels rise and estrogen levels decrease, causing hair to fall into the resting state very quickly. After the birth of the baby, new hairs start growing, causing the hairs that are in their resting phase to fall out. This usually occurs between three and six months after childbirth, and most women achieve a normal child growth pattern. Some women experience acne, pigmentation, stretch marks, puffy eyes, dark circles and hair loss, while others have the pregnancy glow that stays with them.

Once your baby arrives, you will be short of time on most days and there will be hardly any time left for you.

During pregnancy, the hair is in the growth phase and the phase of fall slows down.

Hair can either become limp or become frizzy and dry, falling out twice as often as normal due to normal hormonal changes. After delivery, hormone levels return to normal and the normal hair cycle resumes.

Avoid too much conditioner, if hair is dry…Avoid leave-in sprays..it will be flattering…After conditioner wash hair with cold water…

Use anti frizz shampoo and conditioner for curly hair. Avoid excessive blow drying….try to eat a healthy diet and lots of fruits and enough protein and dry fruits.

1. Eat Healthy

Make sure your diet is rich in foods that contain antioxidants. Some good foods for this are strawberries, apples, kidney beans, prunes etc. Antioxidants help strengthen the roots.

2. Keep Your Scalp and Hair Clean

Wash your scalp with a gentle anti-hair loss shampoo. Condition your hair to avoid breakage. If you’re short on time, apply a leave-in conditioner.

3. Avoid pulling and tying the hair

Avoid tying your hair tightly as it will stretch your scalp and hair. By doing this your hair will fall easily.

4. Vitamin Supplements

Some supplements will be needed to help your body regain its strength after pregnancy. Make sure you take vitamins like vitamin B and C regularly to keep your hair fuller.

5. Chemical Treatment

Avoid colouring, straightening and perming your hair, as these can lead to hair fall. Plus, these treatments are high-maintenance, so unless you really have to get one of these for a special occasion, it’s best to stay away from them for a while.
