iPhone auto-correction often catches us off guard and causes frustration and embarrassment. However, this common problem can be easily resolved by following a few simple steps

We’ve all experienced the frustration and embarrassment of iPhone autocorrect gone wrong–whether it’s in an office WhatsApp group or when replying to your crush, iPhone autocorrect missteps when we least expect it. And, to be honest, it is a widespread issue but it can be easily resolved by following a few steps.

turn off autocorrect completely

To begin with, it is possible to completely disable AutoCorrect. However, we suggest that you keep it on as it can be useful in some situations. But if you don’t want to rely on AutoCorrect to do the work for you, follow these steps to turn off AutoCorrect on iPhone:

  • Open the Settings app on your device.
  • Navigate to General > Keyboard.
  • Find the option for Auto-Correction and turn it off.
  • Additionally, turn off check spelling.

With these steps, autocorrect will stop interrupting your typing. However, if you want to maximize the functionality of AutoCorrect and simplify your life, there are some ways to live with it.

Use text replacement to avoid repeated autocorrect

If you’ve found instances where your phone autocorrects a word over and over again, fear not! You can use the text replacement feature on iPhones to prevent this from happening. Just follow these steps:

  • go to Settings
  • select general
  • tap on keyboard
  • Find and select Text Replacement. Now, add words and phrases that you use frequently.

With this feature, you can add as many words as you want and they will be automatically replaced with the word of your choice.

If you find that the iPhone isn’t autocorrecting, you might also consider resetting the keyboard dictionary for a fresh start.
