PAN-Aadhaar Link: If you have not yet linked PAN card with Aadhaar, you will have to link them by June 30, 2023.

PAN is a unique ten digit alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department in India. It is issued in the form of a laminated plastic card (commonly known as PAN card). It serves as a unique identification number for individuals and entities in India for tax purposes.

Linking PAN with Aadhaar

The Finance Act, 2017 inserted a new section 139AA in the Income Tax Act, 1961, under which every person eligible to obtain Aadhaar to quote his Aadhaar number while applying for PAN or furnishing return of income with effect from 1 July Is required. 2017.

How to check PAN is linked with Aadhaar card?

step 1: Check PAN-Aadhaar link status without signing in at www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/

step 2: On the e-filing portal homepage, go to ‘Quick Links’ and click on Link Aadhaar Status.

step 3: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number, and click on View link Aadhaar Status.

On successful verification, a message will be displayed regarding your Link Aadhaar Status.

If Aadhaar-PAN Link is in progress, the below message will appear on the screen;

Your Aadhaar-PAN linking request has been sent to UIDAI for verification. Please check the status later by clicking on the link ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ on the home page

If Aadhaar PAN linking is successful, it will display the following message;

Your PAN is already linked with Aadhaar given

How to check PAN-Aadhaar link status after login

Step 1a: After login to the homepage of the e-filing portal, click on your dashboard and click Link Aadhaar Status.

(If your Aadhaar is already linked, Aadhaar Number will be displayed. If Aadhaar is not linked then Link Aadhaar Status will be displayed)

  • If verification fails, click link base But status page, and you need to repeat the steps to link your PAN and Aadhaar.
  • If your request to link PAN and Aadhaar is pending with UIDAI for verification, you will need to check the status later.

You may need to approach the jurisdictional Assessing Officer to delink Aadhaar and PAN if:

  • Your Aadhaar is linked to another PAN
  • Your PAN is linked to any other Aadhaar

Who needs to link Aadhaar and PAN?

As per section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, every person who has been allotted PAN as on July 1, 2017, and who is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number, shall intimate his Aadhaar number in the prescribed form and manner. ,

In other words, such persons will have to mandatorily link their Aadhaar and PAN before the due date (31st March, 2022 without fee payment and 30th June, 2023 with prescribed fee payment).

The prescribed fee was Rs 500 till June 30, 2022 and Rs 1000 The fee is being charged from July 01, 2022 to June 30, 2023 in a single challan, which will be applicable prior to submission of Aadhaar-PAN linkage request on the e-filing portal.
