BJP legislators, led by Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, staged a walkout demanding that the Congress government should review its decision to de-notify offices and institutions opened by the previous government since April last year.

Controversy over newly elected Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s decision to create 900 new offices and institutions de-notified by his predecessor Jai Ram Thakur reverberated in the state assembly on the first day of the winter session in Dharamsala. First day out.

An incredulous CM presented a list of offices which he said were opened without providing staff and infrastructure. This was followed by a heated debate, following which the opposition created ruckus and the MLAs shouted slogans in the Well of the House.

Pro tem Speaker Chandra Kumar tried to convince the opposition members that the work of the House that day was only to take oath and they would raise the issue after the Governor’s address on Thursday.

The opposition softened on the issue of the swearing-in ceremony of the MLAs. After the incident, the CM tried to give an explanation for his decision to de-notify 900 offices and institutions opened by the previous government.

“We have made some changes in the governance system. The previous government had opened 900 institutions which include new schools, upgradation of schools and hospitals and offices without proper infrastructure.

As the impasse continued, the opposition members walked out of the House raising slogans against the government.
