Nagpur: In a relief to Union minister Nitin Gadkari, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Friday partially allowed his application for deletion of certain clauses in the election petitions filed by MPCC president Nana Patole and others, alleging that he had concealed information about his assets at the time of filing. However, Gadkari’s other two applications for dismissal of the petitions and adding additional grounds in the case were rejected by the court. The petitioners, through advocate Satish Uke, opposed the applications of the minister.
“These submissions are based on the information obtained by the petitioners as per their affidavits and affidavits. However, the source of information has not been disclosed from which they got such information, resulting in lack of material and complete facts,” said Justice Atul. Chandurkar said.
The judge, however, clarified that the election petitions would proceed on the basis of the arguments that remain after the deletion of the paragraph.
The HC was hearing petitions to lose candidates, including Sagar Dabarse and Nafeez Khan of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, besides Patole, who claimed that Gadkari, who contested on a BJP ticket, violated the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. did.
