Heidelberg Vs Habibganj: Bhopal’s new Kamlapati station is built on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg, know how much similarity between the two

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s first railway station, Habibganj, built under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. The name of this station has been changed to Rani Kamalapati before the inauguration. World class facilities are being claimed at this station. It is also being said that the station has been re-developed on the lines of Germany’s Heidelberg Railway Station.

In such a situation, we will tell you whether the design of Habibganj station is similar to Heidelberg? Will all the facilities available at Heidelberg station be available at Habibganj station as well? What are the similarities between the two stations?

Only concept plan taken from Heidelberg station
Responding to these questions, Abu Asif, Project Director, Habibganj Redevelopment explains that the design of Habibganj station is not like Heidelberg station, only the concept plan is taken from Heidelberg station. The first concept is of passenger segregation. That is, the routes of passengers getting on and off the train are different. In such a situation, both the passengers will never collide with each other. Another concept taken from Heidelberg station is all facilities at a single point. That is, facilities like cinema, hotel, food, shopping, hospital will be available at one place.

Office, Shopping, Hotel, Entertainment all in one place
Corporate building and mini shopping mall are being constructed on the platform number one side of Habibganj station. The mall will have hotels, retail spaces and multiplexes. The corporate building will house the offices of the companies. At the same time, a super specialty hospital and a 5 star hotel are being built on the number 5 platform. The concept of Multi Motor Transport Hub has been adopted here. That is, interconnectivity of railway station, bus and metro station. Under this concept, Habibganj station will be connected to the metro station being built through skywalk.

Heidelberg vs. Habibganj Station

1. Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof is the main railway station of the city of Heidelberg. The station is operated by the Deutsche Bahn (Deutsche Bahn). There are separate parking spaces for cycles and other vehicles.

The station has tram, taxi and bus facilities.

Bhopal has two railway stations. Habibganj and Bhopal Railway Station. Of these, the main railway station is Bhopal. The operation of Habibganj railway station is with Bansal Group. Unlike Heidelberg station, there is no separate bicycle parking space. It will be connected to the metro station for better connectivity.

2. For the safety of passengers, a Triple-S center has been built at Heidelberg station. Operating round the clock, the Triple-S Center station collects vital information related to the process. The station’s emergency intercom connects callers directly to the Triple-S Center. Other safety equipment is also present at the station.

162 high resolution cameras have been installed at Habibganj railway station. Sitting in the control room, the entire station is monitored. The data of these cameras is stored on servers of 150 terabytes for a month. From fire detectors to other security related equipments have been installed here.

Retail space has been provisioned for the same facilities as the shops at airport terminals. Like Heidelberg, you will find food, clothing and other things here too. Habibganj station has facilities ranging from clean waiting rooms to retiring rooms and dormitories.

4. Automatic machines are installed at Heidelberg station for taking tickets. Apart from this, the facility of Wi-Fi, Luggage Locker, Elevator is available at the station. You can easily reach any platform via escalator from the Concourse to board the train.

You can also bring your own bicycle to the Heidelberg station concourse.

There are no automatic machines for ticketing at Habibganj station. Passengers can reach the air concourse by lift, traveler, escalator. From here you can get down at any platform to catch the train.

An underground sub-way has been made for the exit of passengers reaching Habibganj from other cities.

5. Heidelberg station building is covered with glass. Due to the glass, there is a lot of light in the day and there is no need for light.

The building of Habibganj railway station has also been covered with glass. Insulated sheeting has been done on the roof to control the temperature. Solar panels have also been installed on the platform shed.
