The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to heavy rains in Mumbai and its suburbs till Friday (July 8), with very heavy rains likely at isolated places.


Heavy rain in Mumbai, CM monitors the situation

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, personally monitoring the situation, has put all the districts on high alert, visited the disaster management center and asked the officials to make all arrangements, including shifting the people living in vulnerable areas due to incessant rains. has instructed. Shinde on Tuesday reviewed the rain situation and said that over 3,500 people have been shifted to safer places from flood prone and vulnerable places across the state, which have lashed several districts, including Mumbai. He said National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed wherever necessary and more personnel would be sent if needed. The CM, who took charge less than a week ago, said he has asked government officials to give top priority to prevent loss of life and property in rain-related incidents.

Light rain expected in Delhi today

It was a hot and humid morning in the national capital on Wednesday as the minimum temperature in the city was two notches above normal, while the Met Office had predicted light rain in the city. The IMD said the minimum temperature was 29.4 degrees Celsius. “It will be generally cloudy and there is a possibility of light rain during the day,” an official said.
The Met Office said the relative humidity at 8.30 am was 74 per cent and the maximum temperature during the day is likely to hover around 37 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rain in Odisha for next 4 days

IMD has predicted heavy rains in Odisha for the next 4-5 days. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the state of Odisha and accordingly, an alert was issued for 17 districts. Speaking to ANI, Umashankar Das on July 5 said that Odisha’s Ganjam district has recorded the highest rainfall of 130.4 mm in the last 24 hours, followed by Kendrapara with 93.4 mm and Sundergarh at 78 mm. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Boudh districts in the next 24 hours. Along with this, a yellow alert has been issued for 13 districts like Raigad, Puri, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Nuapada. Koraput, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Ganjam in the state,” Das said.

Goa will receive heavy rain

Rain activity is likely to increase over North and South Goa in the coming five days, said an IMD release issued here in the evening. The IMD said fishermen are advised not to venture further along the south Maharashtra-Goa-Karnataka coasts for five days from July 5.

Meanwhile, Telangana is likely to receive heavy rains on July 8 and 9, while Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive rain between July 7-9. The IMD said that South Interior Karnataka and Kerala will receive heavy rains in the next three days from today.
