Heavy rains lashed parts of Telangana and Maharashtra on Thursday, while humid weather prevailed in the north, while the IMD has forecast widespread rain over eastern and central parts of the country in the next two days.

Skies remained cloudy in Delhi with the maximum temperature at 34 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below the average.

In Kerala, the Met Office asked fishermen not to venture into the sea till July 26 as it had issued a warning of very heavy rain.

An orange alert was issued for Kannur district on Friday. The IMD also issued a yellow alert for all other districts.

Red alert indicates heavy to very heavy rainfall of more than 20 cms in 24 hours, while orange alert means very heavy rain ranging from 6 cms to 20 cms of rain. Yellow alert means heavy rain between 6 to 11 cms.

Chandigarh, the shared capital of both the states, recorded a maximum temperature of 32.5 degrees Celsius.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum of 33.5 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 33.7 degrees Celsius, while Patiala recorded a maximum of 33.3 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains occurred over many parts of East Uttar Pradesh and western parts of the state as Monsoon remained active over the state.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of thundershowers at many places in western Uttar Pradesh and at some places in the eastern part of the state on Friday.
