Can Rohit Sharma help Suryakumar Yadav get over his ODI form?

After a string of stellar innings in the shortest format, Sky managed to score scores of 14, 31 and 4 in the last four ODIs. He had to sit out the two matches against Sri Lanka because of Iyer, who is currently batting at a better average.

While there is no doubt about the fact that Suryakumar Yadav is probably one of the best, if not the best, T20 cricketer in recent times, his ODI stats leave a lot to be desired. Despite three hundreds to his name, he has not been able to convert that form into the fifty-over game. This ‘wacky contrast’ did not go unnoticed by his critics and fans alike. Saba Karim, one of the former cricketers and now a cricket pundit has suggested that SKY talk to captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid about this to help them destroy their inner demons.

“It’s not the first time. Earlier when he got a chance to play in ODIs, he didn’t score as per expectation. I still feel he is an invaluable player. Some players need some time to adjust. He should discuss it with Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to get more clarity,” Saba Karim told India News.

Just a year after making his international debut, Suryakumar stunned the cricket world with his heroics in the shortest format of the game. He had a stellar year with the bat, breaking a series of records and setting a benchmark that had never been done before in the format. He became only the second batsman to score over 1000 runs in a calendar year in T20Is and ended the year as the highest run-scorer with 1164 runs at a ridiculous strike-rate of 187.43.
