Wasim Akram’s claim that Salim Malik acted in a selfish manner and treated him like a servant during his early years in international cricket has been dismissed by the former Pakistan captain. in his autobiography Sultan: A MemoirAkram alleged that Malik took advantage of Akram’s junior position in the team and asked him to clean his clothes and shoes.
In an interview, Malik, who played 103 Tests and 293 ODIs for Pakistan, denied those allegations, adding that he would not comment until he had read the book or spoken with Akram.

“I want to ask him his view on his comments and in what sense he wrote them. We used to go on tour to Pakistan, there used to be a washing machine. We didn’t have to use our hands,” Malik told 24 news,
He said, “Until I talk to him or see his book. I don’t want to comment on this. We are colleagues and have had a good time together. So I don’t want to create any controversy.”
Notably, Akram made his debut under Malik’s captaincy and went on to become one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game, arguably the greatest left-arm fast bowler in cricket history.
“If I was selfish, how come he played his first match under my captaincy? So why should I let him bowl?
He said that Akram is insulting himself by making such claims.
He said, ‘The way he is talking about clothes and massage, he is insulting himself. Until I speak to him, I do not know in what sense he has written it.
In his book, Akram described Malik as ‘selfish’ and ‘negative’.

“I was furious when some young members of the team in Rameez, Tahir, Mohsin, Shoaib Mohammed invited me to nightclubs.”
