Vellore: A 43 year old man of the year HaryanaA man who frequently travels to Bengaluru and other cities in southern states to steal cattle and sell them in slaughterhouses, was arrested on Monday at Pernampet in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district.
The arrested has been identified as A Hakimudin of Jamalpur village Bhiwani District in Haryana. Police recovered a cow from him and a mini truck with around Rs 70,000 and fake Andhra Pradesh registration number.
Police said 50-year-old Razak, a cattle rearer in Pernampet, filed a complaint that one of his cows went missing on Saturday. Police have registered a case and started investigation. On regular vehicle checking at Pernampet and V Kotta road junctions, a police team spotted a mini truck carrying a cow on Monday morning.
The team stopped the vehicle and on inquiry it was found that the vehicle is fake. AP registration number. The police took the driver into custody. On enquiry, the driver, who identified himself as Hakimuddin from Haryana, confessed to flying to Bengaluru and other southern cities for the past few years and stealing cattle and selling them in slaughterhouses. He stayed in South India for a few months and went back to his native place. After a few months at home, he will again catch a flight to South India to steal the cattle.
Police registered a case against him. He was sent to judicial custody.
