Haryana CM Khattar on prayer line ‘Not allowed in public by any community’

‘Sad to hear that weekly prayers have been called a show of strength’: Gurgaon Muslim Council

Responding to Khattar’s comments, Gurgaon Muslim Council spokesperson Altaf Ahmed issued a statement on Tuesday, saying: “Muslims of Gurgaon are deeply pained to hear that our CM in the Haryana Assembly has said that Muslims Performing his obligatory weekly prayer is a show of strength. Instead of stopping such horrific attacks on Muslims by right-wing groups, the CM has completely blamed us,” the statement said.

“The Gurgaon administration should have told the Chief Minister that Muslims are offering Juma prayers in open spaces, which was cleared by itself in 2018. Muslims are forced to offer prayers in the open as they are being offered prayers by the state government. Neither land has been allotted by the U.S. in Gurgaon (except one in Sector 57 which is under litigation for the last 15 years); nor were encroachments removed from several waqf properties in Gurgaon,” the statement added.
