Anjan Srivastava, who has made his mark by playing various roles in notable TV shows and films, is celebrating his 74th birthday today. Establishing himself on the map of theatre, television and films, the veteran actor of Hindi cinema has enthralled his audience through various entertainment channels over the years.

Srivastava’s character in Wagle’s Duniya was the turning point of his career. In his heyday, the actor’s performance has always been remarkable.

Over the years, Srivastava has acted in several films, to name a few – Golmaal, Bemisaal, Khuda Gawah and Pukar. Meanwhile, the television daily reveals that the actor has won praises for Tamas, Nukkad, Comma Viram and Nayi Duniya of Wagle.

    Shah Rukh Khan, Suchitra Krishnamurthy, Deepak Tijori and Naseeruddin Shah are in lead roles in this romantic comedy directed by Kundan Shah. Srivastava is seen playing the role of Shahrukh’s father.
  2. Wagle ki Duniya
    Srivastava, with his acting talent, breathed life into RK Laxman’s archetypal common man cartoon character Srinivas Wagle from Wagle Ki Duniya, which aired on the DD National television series from 1988 to 1990. Written and narrated by Laxman, the show revolves around Wagle, who is a nervous man. The sales clerk whose daily struggle resonated with the middle class population of the country at that time.
  3. Nukkad
    Srivastava was a part of this classic television series, Nukkad, directed by Saeed Akhtar Mirza and Kundan Shah. Written by Prabodh Joshi, the series aired on DD National television channel from 1986 to 1988.

    The veteran actor was seen playing the role of head hockey officer, Mr Tripathi in Shah Rukh Khan’s sports drama film. In an interview in 2015, Srivastava had mentioned that it was Shah Rukh who suggested his name for the role.
  5. Sanju (2018)
    The latest in his filmography list is Rajkumar Hirani’s film which narrates the life story of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. In the biopic, Srivastava played a small but important role as a political leader.
