P Chidambaram on Rs 2000 note: Senior Congress leader and former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that he is happy with the central government’s decision to withdraw the Rs 2,000 note from circulation. He said that it took seven years to rectify the mistake the government had made.

The former Union Minister was talking to reporters in Karaikudi today (May 21).

Chidambaram said he hoped that the Indian government would re-introduce the Rs 1,000 note in the market and said that the withdrawal of the Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes was a grave mistake and was not accepted by the people of the country.

The senior Congress party leader said the opposition had then strongly opposed the introduction of Rs 2,000 notes in the market, saying it was a move to stop the circulation of black money from the country.

He said that the central government then claimed that black money was in circulation in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 and therefore withdrew those notes and introduced new Rs 2,000 notes which was not only a mistake but also a haste. was the step taken.

The former finance minister said the Indian government’s move has left the common man confused. Chidambaram said that the central government is now making a mockery of the Centre’s move to reintroduce the new Rs 500 notes and withdraw the new Rs 2,000 notes by becoming a ‘Tughlaq Darbar’.
