Hafiz Muhammad Saeed is the head of the dreaded Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist organization. As an overall leader, Saeed played a key role in LeT’s operations and fundraising activities. He is the Amir or leader of Jamaat-ud-Dawa.

Saeed, who has been designated a global terrorist by the United Nations and the US with a USD 10 million bounty on his head, is wanted by India for years to mastermind the Mumbai 2008 terrorist attack that killed 161 people. Were.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba founder has been sentenced twice to a prison sentence of more than 10 years, but is not in jail, and continues to carry out terror activities from his Lahore home.

After the blast, a car mechanic was also taken into custody on Saturday for his involvement in the blast. Sources said intelligence agencies arrested the technician for modifying the interiors of the car used in the blast.

“He has been shifted to an undisclosed location,” Geo News quoted a source as saying.

A media outlet said on Wednesday that a man driving a suspected vehicle that was possibly used to trigger the blast was caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV), footage of which has been obtained by ARY News .

Citing preliminary investigation, a senior police officer, on the condition of anonymity, told Dawn that around 15 kg of explosives was kept in a car stolen from Gujranwala and near Hafiz Saeed’s residence at the Board of Revenue Housing Society, Johor Town. was standing nearby.

Police said a rickshaw and a motorcycle parked nearby were completely destroyed by the blast.

The blast site was cordoned off with a bomb disposal squad collecting evidence.

Hafiz Saeed’s residence remained safe, but several other houses and shops within 100 square feet of the blast site were damaged.

The 71-year-old terrorist is serving his prison term in Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore for his conviction in terror financing cases. Saeed was sentenced to 15 years and six months imprisonment by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in December last year.
