Gurugram Waterlogging: It rained continuously for more than six hours in the city today (June 25) morning, leading to heavy water-logging and flood-like situation in many parts and areas. Several roads in the city, including state highways and Narsinghpur Chowk on Delhi-Jaipur, were submerged in an average of 3-4 feet of water, causing inconvenience to two-wheelers and pedestrians.

The most affected areas are Delhi-Jaipur Expressway (NH-48) Hero Honda Chowk, IFFCO Chowk, Jharsa Chowk, Sector-31, Narsinghpur Chowk, Sohna Road, Basai Chowk, Sector 4-7-9, service lane near Hanuman. Chowk, Atlas Chowk, Artemis Road, Kanhai Chowk, Golf Course Road, Vatika Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Bagtawar Chowk, Atul Kataria Chowk, Kapashera Border, Udyog Vihar, Jokabpura, Sadar Bazar, Mahavir Chowk, Near Medanta Underpass Dundahera and Jwala Mill On Old Delhi-Gurugram Road.

Apart from these areas, Sheetla Mata Road, Sanjay Gram Road, Palam Vihar Road, Kartapuri Chowk, Sector-4 Road, Udyog Vihar and Signature Tower Chowk were also badly affected by water-logging. Both vehicular traffic and pedestrian movement were disrupted due to water-logging at many stretches.

People also took to Twitter to post pictures and videos of their areas. According to a fire department official, a tree fell on a house in DLF Phase-1 area during the rains. However, there is no news of anyone getting injured in the incident.

The rain water not only inundated the main parts of the city and the approach roads, but also accumulated on the inner area roads and submerged in 3 feet of water. In Old Gurugram, the city’s bus stand and the surrounding area were completely submerged in rain water.

Light rain started around 3 am on Sunday, but by 8 am it intensified and turned into heavy rain. Once again, the traffic police issued an online alert through Twitter about the severely affected areas and deployed staff to clear the jam.

IMD’s eye on rain in Delhi-NCR:

“Traffic has been disrupted in Gurugram due to heavy rains. A senior police officer said, the MCG, GMDA and other concerned departments have been deployed to pump out the rainwater into the drainage with the help of pumps and other machinery.

“Shitala Mata Road was badly affected during the rains. We lodged a complaint at the Chief Minister’s Window for redressal but to no avail. Two-wheelers and pedestrians are facing inconvenience as 2-3 feet of rain on this road The water has accumulated.” said residents and shopkeepers of the area.
