gurugram: 4 run over by train near Gurugram railway station while taking selfie | Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: Four youths – all aged 20-25 years – died after being hit by a train near Gurugram railway station on Tuesday. Police said they were trying to take a selfie on the railway tracks with a moving train in the background.
The youths have been identified as Sameer Kumar, Mohammad Anas, Yusuf alias Bhola and Yuvraj Gogia, all residents of Devilal Colony in Sector 9, a police officer said.
The accident, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP), occurred around 5pm near an under-construction railway overbridge (ROB) when Ajmer-bound Jan Shatabdi Express from Delhi’s Sarai Rohilla was moving from the Gurugram railway station towards Basai.
Three youths were posing while the fourth one was holding the mobile phone to capture the selfie on the railway track when the train was approaching, a GRP officer said, adding that even when it came quite near, the youths did not move as they wanted the moving train in the picture and were run over.
The Jan Shatabdi Express, which starts from Sarai Rohilla railway station in Delhi and goes to Ajmer in Rajasthan, left the Gurugram railway station at little before 5pm.
All the four died on the spot. As soon as the information was received from the train driver, a team from the GRP police station reached the spot and took their bodies to the morgue. The police recovered a broken iPhone and a scooter from the spot.
“The accident took place just before the railway station near the ROB. All the youths have been identified,” said Pawan Kumar, in-charge of GRP police station, Gurugram.
