Patna: A Gorkha Battalion Constable was murdered by cut throat Gopalganj SP Anand Kumar said on Tuesday that following a controversy over comments at a birthday party at Thawe in Gopalganj on the night of August 10.
Kumar told that the three accused Amit Kumar (20), resident of Foreign Tola of Thawe, Mohammad Kahim (36) of West Bengal and Vikas Upadhyay (26) of village Madhopur of Rasulpur police station area of Saran have been sent to jail till Monday evening. Was allegedly involved in the murder of Arjun Dayal alias Arjun Thapa (38).
The SP said the police would approach the court within a week seeking their remand for detailed interrogation.
“After that we will file the charge sheet soon and try to present the matter for speedy trial,” he said.
Dayal’s body was found buried in the mud on the road leading to Chetitola village under Thawe police station of Gopalganj on the morning of 11 August.
Dayal, a native of Chitwan, Nepal, was part of a part of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP) company, formerly known as the Bihar Military Police (BMP), which was deployed to guard the famous Thawe Temple in Gopalganj. .
The company was about to leave for Bagaha on August 11, before which it was stabbed to death.
The SP said that Dayal had gone to the guest house near the temple to attend the birthday party with the three.
“Some controversy broke out after the remarks from the constable. Perhaps everyone must have been in a state of intoxication. They brought the constable down and killed him.”
The SP said that Vikas had first stabbed the constable from behind. “Kahim untied his pajama lace and strangled Dayal to death with Amit’s help. In the end both of them slit his throat and inflicted few more blows on him,” he said.
Kumar said that they took the body on a bike to the roadside and threw it and fled towards the city.
SHO of Thave police station Kiran Shankar said that dancers were also present in the party, in which an altercation ensued.
“Dayal had become very friendly with all three. Even a month ago, there was a scuffle between the two sides. He said that Kahim used to work in the orchestra run by Vikash. The SHO said that Kahim has already gone to Indore jail in a criminal case.
“Police have recovered the knife and bike used in the murder and a missing shoe of Dayal on the confession of the three. The post-mortem report is awaited,” he said.
