Chitrakoot: ‘Gulabi Gang’ Commander Sampath Pali On Sunday he said that he had resigned from Congress Because the party had denied him ticket for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Holding the state Congress leaders and observers directly responsible for not giving her the ticket, Pal said she would apprise top Congress leaders of the “internal politics” in New Delhi.
Pal had contested the assembly elections in 2012 and 2017 from the Mau-Manikpur seat on a Congress ticket.
She got only 2,203 votes in the 2012 elections, while she got 40,524 votes in 2017 when she was an ally of the SP-Congress.
Congress has fielded Ranjana Bhartilal Pandey in her place this time.
Pal runs a women’s organization named ‘Gulabi Gang’.
Featuring the 2014 Bollywood film ‘Gulaab Gang’ Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla, widely believed to be inspired by Pal and his organization.
