Gujarat: Univ bars religious activities after video of girl offering namaz inside campus sparks row

The authorities of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda have issued a notice banning religious activities inside the campus. They have also initiated a high-level inquiry to identify and take action against the student seen offering Namaz.

The university prohibited all students and faculty members from any kind of religious activities inside the university campus.

“The Faculty of Science, MS University, Vadodara is a premier institution of higher education. Therefore, it is not desirable to observe any kind of religious activity within the Faculty premises. Therefore, it is informed to all the students and faculty members that no religious activities are not allowed.” premises. Violation of this instruction will invite appropriate disciplinary action,” read the notice issued by Dean of the Faculty of Science Haribhai Kataria.

The notice was issued after a video surfaced of a student offering prayers on the university campus, following which the university on Monday ordered an inquiry. Sources said that an inquiry committee meeting will be held to take necessary action against the girl student. This is the third video that has surfaced in less than a month that shows a student offering ‘namaz’ inside the university campus.
