Ahmedabad: The pending problems of the teaching staff in government-run medical colleges have not been resolved within the stipulated time, so doctors have called for a strike from Monday.
Senior doctors said that around 10,000 doctors belonging to various organizations will take part in the strike.
Organizers said that doctors at BJ Medical College would gather outside the college and start a sit-in at 9.30 am. “We tried to urge the authorities to set aside the November 22 order – which is the polar opposite of the May 16 proposal when the government at that time accepted our valid points,” said one. Gujarat Member of Medical Teachers Association (GMTA) from Ahmedabad.
Organizers said the staff would submit a memorandum to their respective deans.
