A case was registered against Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Italia on September 2, 2022 at Surat’s Umra police station for allegedly using derogatory words against state BJP chief CR Patil and Gujarat minister Harsh Shanghvi.

Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Italia was arrested and granted bail in September last year for allegedly using derogatory words against state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

Italia had uploaded video messages in August 2022 following the alleged attack on his colleague Manoj Sorathiya in Surat.

In the video message, Italia had used some allegedly derogatory words to describe Patil and Sanghvi and said that Sorathia was attacked by BJP goons.

The case was being investigated by the Surat Crime Branch, which arrested Italia during the day.

After being released on bail, Italia said that the police action was aimed at harassing him.
