Govt collects Rs 1.61 lakh cr GST in June, registers growth by 12%

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry informed on Saturday that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in the month of June stood at Rs 1,61,497 crore. As per official information, gross GST collections registered a significant growth of 12 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Last year (2022), in the same month, the government had raised Rs 1,44,616 crore.

Officials pointed out that out of Rs 1,61,497 crore gross GST collection, CGST contributed Rs 31,013 crore, SGST contributed Rs 38,292 crore, IGST Rs 80,292 crore (including Rs 39,035 crore collected on import of goods) and cess. 11,900 crores added (which includes 1,028 crores on import of goods).

GST collection crossed 1.6 lakh crore for the fourth time

This is the fourth time, when the gross GST collection has crossed Rs. 1.60 lakh crore figure. The average monthly gross GST collection for the first quarter of FY 2021-22, FY 22-23 and FY 23-24 is Rs. 1.10 lakh crore Rs. 1.51 lakh crore Rs. 1.69 lakh crore respectively. However, the GST collection for April 2023 remains on top with 1.87 lakh crores.
