Google Starts Testing Generative AI Features In Gmail, Docc

San Francisco: After announcing upcoming generative artificial intelligence (AI) features for workspace apps two weeks ago, Google has now started public testing in Gmail and Docs.

As 9to5Google reports, the current trusted testing program includes consumer, enterprise and education users (over 18) in the US.

This “small group” is invited by the tech giant to join and must sign up and opt-in.

Testers can leave the program at any time.

Users of the program can use the generative AI in Gmail to craft everything from birthday invitations to job cover letters.

“Users can also ask Google to paraphrase what they’ve written and expand or shorten it,” the report said.

On the other hand, AI in Google Docs will make the text more detailed or rewrite.

Plus, it will also help users write blog posts or write song lyrics.

Participants in the trial program will be able to send feedback via Gmail and Docs.

The report adds that the company will expand the availability of generative AI features “over time”.
